Hello everybody, while I no longer live in the great north in the city of Toronto, I've kept up the habit on my daily commute to NYC. Some sketches courtesy of NJ Transit. People are mostly sleeping or looking down at their blackberries/ipads, as indicative of your typical morning commuter. Just some head drawings for now.

I spent 2 hrs unloading some of the weeks stress drawing in the Rideau Centre food court in Ottawa - I think this little 30 sec sketch justified the time. (the rest was fun to!)

Toronto Sketcrawl at the Metro Zoo!

What a great turn out it was! Not even the gloomy weather and rain could stop us--that's what being an artist is all about, right?! It was really great to see friends and new faces come together and sketch whatever they saw. I just wish the zoo stayed opened for a lot longer, but it just makes me want to come back more regularly.

Looks like there's going to be a whole bunch of people coming to the Sketch Crawl this Saturday in Toronto!
We're meeting at 12:15pm Saturday Oct 25 at the front entrance of the Metro Toronto Zoo.

Hi everyone,

Subway Sketching this Sunday August 24 is postponed because we'll be at the Toronto Fan Expo at the metro convention center. If you're in the Toronto area, come on by. We'll be signing prints and books all weekend at booth A10 in Artist Alley. We'll also be doing free sketches for every purchase.

There's going to be tons of great talent and entertainment there. Just to name a few Jason Seiler, Doug Sneyd, Stephen Silver, Justin Ridge, Alberto Ruiz and Matt Stewart are all going to be sitting in our row.

Hope to see lots of you this weekend!

Hi all.

Kei, T and I will be absent from subway sketching for the next 3 weekends. We will resume on Sept. 2nd. We're going to be in Chicago Aug 9-12 for the Wizard Convention. Then it's TCAF in Toronto the weekend after and then it's the BIG Toronto con, the FAN EXPO. Can't wait for that one!! Sorry about this... but don't worry. Comicon season is coming to a halt end of this month.

These weren't from this Sunday's subway sketching but we were on a bus at the "African Lion Safari" in Hamilton Ontario. We had a pretty fun time. I haven't been there for over 20 years...

Hi Everyone,

It's been a while since I've posted here but that will be changing. I haven't been posting many of my subway sketches because we've (Kei and I) been working on the Subway Sketches book!

Kei and I are having our very first art show this Saturday June 30th, 7pm-10pm at the Labyrinth Store on Bloor St W just west of Spadina Avenue.

We'll be exhibiting a collection of sketches done in the subways of our beloved city of Toronto. These are original subway sketches taken straight out of our sketchbooks. You will also have the opportunity to purchase original sketches, prints and books as well as meet us in person and ask us questions.

It's going to be very exciting and fun for us so I hope you can come make it. We're also going to be premiering Imaginism Studios' 7th book - Subway Sketches. I hear the Globe and Mail (Canada's national newspaper) is going to be there as well.

Our Subway Sketches book is full of observational drawings, tips and tutorials as well as some killer guest artists!

The first one is a drawing of a man with a baby, listening to his wife slur a story about how she had to be at the bar, 'cause she met a woman with terminal cancer who had no one to drink with.
The second is the girl across from me listening to them.

The other two i drew hours later on my way home, after I had drank most of a large bottle of wine, they're kinda slurred too. I thought it'd be funny to have the before and after. Hope y'dig... rock and roll

Bigger is better!! As many of the Toronto subway sketchers know, I've been using a tiny little sketchbook (about 5 x 7in) with pen for a good while now. Well today I decided to use letter size paper with a good ol' pencil and I have to say that I was loving it! It felt like I was freed from a tiny little confined cell and into an open playground of endless space to draw.

ISTANBUL ON THE DECK

If you wonder the Istanbul's old-style ferry, like this:

You can view a balloon fixed the ground in Kadikoy (Kalkhedon) when you are daydreaming at the deck of ferry:

...And this is my 4 years old son's sketch: People get off the ferry on the Uskudar (Scutari) port. Right, it's really a chaos!

That was the third sunny day of new year. If the weather allows me, I'll draw the sketches on the deck. Cheers to all...

HAPPY NEW YEAR'S TO ONE AND ALL!!!!!

I did these this morning while at the local timmy's with my roommate's one of them happens to be new Canada, he's from India. So we were out enjoying the snow, Never thought I'd say those words again. As we waiting to be served I grabbed the white marker they use to mark the cups, a few bags and finally I had my trusty brush pen with me. So this is the result of being up late and sharing the changing of the year's with someone old and someone new.

Winter is upon us and it's really been fun drawing all the fantastic people all bundled up for the cold.
